چکیده

We present a new approach to the construction of piecewise polynomial or rational C k-spline surfaces of arbitrary topological structure. The basic idea is to use exclusively parametric smoothness conditions, and to solve the well known problems at extraordinary points by admitting singular parametrizations. The smoothness of the spline surfaces is guaranteed by specifying a regular smooth re-parametrization explicitly. The resulting space of topologically unrestricted rational B-splines (TURBS) is linear and possesses a natural reenement property. Compared with all known methods the construction principle of TURBS is of striking simplicity and the required polynomial bi-degree is essentially decreased from O(k 2) to d = 2k + 2.

Local and Global Approaches to Fracture Mechanics Using Isogeometric Analysis Method

The present research investigates the implementations of different computational geometry technologies in isogeometric analysis framework for computational fracture mechanics. NURBS and T-splines are two different computational geometry technologies which are studied in this work. Among the features of B-spline basis functions, the possibility of enhancing a B-spline basis with discontinuities ...

Non Uniform Rational B Spline (NURBS) Based Non-Linear Analysis of Straight Beams with Mixed Formulations

Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...

Conversion between T-Splines and Hierarchical B-Splines

T-splines is a recently developed surface modelling technique which is a generalization of B-splines and allows true local refinement. Another well established method supporting local refinement is hierarchical B-splines. This paper presents algorithms for transformation between T-splines and hierarchical (rational) B-splines. With the transformation, a surface expressed in terms of T-splines c...

Isogeometric-Based Modeling and Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates Under Transverse Loading

Analysis of the laminated composite plates under transverse loading is considered using the new method of Isogeometric Analysis (IGA). Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines(NURBS)are used as shape functions for modeling the geometry of the structure and also are used as shape functions in the analysis process. To show robustness of the new technique, some examples are represented and are compared with...

A Hole-filling Algorithm Using Non-uniform Rational B-splines

A three-dimensional (3D) geometric model obtained from a 3D device or other approaches is not necessarily watertight due to the presence of geometric deficiencies. These deficiencies must be repaired to create a valid surface mesh on the model as a preprocess of computational engineering analyses. This procedure has been a tedious and labor-intensive step, as there are many kinds of deficiencie...
